The 5K Fun Walk
The 5K Fun Walk has been a part of our event since its inception in 2005. It will consist of 3 loops around the fairgrounds complex. The route will be clearly marked and will consist of paved and hard-packed trail sections. It is friendly for both strollers and wagons. You will enjoy the company of hundreds of other walkers, the changing leaves on the trees and signs of encouragement posted along the route.
Many people decide to participate as part of a Walk Team. Forming a team of family, friends, and co-workers is a great way to honor someone you know with autism.
We will honor the three teams that have raised the most money as seen on the website at 5:00 PM Friday October 26, 2012. The top three prizes come from the top three requests ASNV receives from thousands of calls annually that include: respite care, assistive technology and help with future planning. The top fundraiser will have their pick of all three prizes, the second top fundraiseror will pick from the remaining two prizes and the third fundraiser will receive the remaining prize. Prizes will include the entrance fee for a Special Needs Pooled Trust with The Arc of Northern Virginia (value $1050), an iPad and case (value $600) and a respite weekend at Jill's House (value $300).
The 5K Fun Walk will start at 11 am, following brief remarks from the Walk Coordinator and others. On-site registration and check-in for pre-registered walkers will begin at 9 am.
